Background

The Town Council of the Town of Exeter voted and approved the creation of The Boone Lake Dam Management District. The district was formed pursuant to the authority granted under enabling legislation that had been promoted by the State of Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.

On December 11, 2007, the Town Council appointed Gary Casaly as the Assessor/Collector, Cindy Saunders-Earnshaw as the Clerk, and D. Joseph Fulford as the Treasurer as the initial members of the Board of Directors pursuant to the provisions of the adopted ordinance.

Under the provision of the ordinance, the Dam Management District was required to hold its first public meeting within 18 months of the appointment of the initial three-member board. The Board of Directors of the Dam Management District assembled the necessary data and created budgets to carry out the provisions of the ordinance. This material and other pertinent information were presented to all Boone Lake property owners at the first public meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
